Artist blacksmiths in the Ötztal have still maintained old traditions. In their long history they worked metal e.g. copper, bronze, iron and precious metals using old forging and hammering techniques.
Every Thursday there is a guided tour throuth the old village blacksmith in Niederthai.

Still today sheep wool and linen are important nature products. Old handicrafts are still alive in two family-run shops in Umhausen. Here you can purchase sheep wool carpets, rag rugs and authentic Ötztal linen sheets.
