Right at the beginning - when you cross the suspension bridge - surefootedness and a good head for heights are absolutely required. A steel rope for via ferrata sets is available as well. The family-friendly route features two difficult grade-C sections where previous via ferrata experience is recommended. Pleasant and easy walking trail to the access area, ideal also for onlookers who can watch the sportsmen close-by.

SAFETY ON THE VIA FERRATAThe Austrian Alpine Club has published 10 recommendations for climbing on via ferratas in order to increase safety:
- Plan carefully
- Destination should correspond to personal abilities
- Use complete set of professional climbing equipment
- Don’t access the route in the event of a thunderstorm
- Check wire rope and anchors accurately and critically
- Partner check at the access point
- Maintain sufficient distance
- Talk clearly when overtaking someone
- Watch out for falling rocks
- Respect nature and environment
Required age for children: 10 years (1,40 m height)
Tips and hints
Via Ferrata basic knowledge is necessary.This via ferrata is graded B-C, most sections are of intermediate difficulty (B) and therefore also perfect for families with children over 10 years - if using an additional safety rope.

Travel safe and comfortable with the train to the Ötztal Bahnhof train station. Last stop and exit point is the train station Ötztal Bahnhof. Afterwards you can travel smoothly and quick with the public transport or our local taxi companies through the valley to your desired destination. The car drive to the Ötztal valley. Situated in Tirol, the Ötztal valley set off in southerly direction and is the longest side valley in the Eastern Alps. The journey with the car leads you through the Inntal valley to the entrance of the valley and further on through the valley. Among the toll motorways you can also use the country roads. Equipment
Specialized equipment based on the climbing path is necessary. Such as breathable clothing that is suited on the weather (functional underwear, climbing pants, T-shirt and longsleeve, fleece jacket), climbing shoes or trekking shoes, helmet, harness, safety device, chalk bag & chalk, hard brush, tape, rope bag, express sets, quickdraws, karabiner, tape loop & prusik knot, figure eight or tube, chocks/nuts & nut key, headlight, wind-, rain- and sun protection, cap, potentially gloves. We recommend brining a first aid box, a mobile phone and a topo. Take sufficient provisions with you when there is no hut nearby.Status
