JÖCHER UND EIN KLEINER GLETSCHER

Hinter der Hütte folgt man dem Steig ein Stück nach Osten, und zweigt dann nach links ab zum Aussichtspunkt Gahwinden. Von dort führt der Weg durch Geröll hinab in das Rötkarle. Der Steig verläuft dann ansteigend zum Kapuzinerjöchl, wo man seilversichert im steilen Gelände hinunter steigt. Dann wandert man den Steig hinauf zum Breitlehnjöchl. Schließlich führt die Route hinauf zum Sandjöchl. Bei einer Steiggabelung beginnt eine äußerst mühsame Passage zur Luibisscharte. Bald betritt man den spaltenfreien Hauerferner (ein Steg führt auch rechter Hand vom Gletscherfeld hinunter!). Er wird in seinem flachen oberen Teil Richtung Osten gequert. Wegen Felssturz ist der weitere Weg zwischen dem Gletscher und der Hauerseehütte offiziell gesperrt. Die Ausweichroute führt nach Nordosten und im Anschluss an die Gletscherpassage rechts von einem Felskopf hinunter zur Hauerseehütte.
